AN
EVENING WITH BRITISH EVENTING ICON...
MARY KING
CWG Ltd have re-launched their Equestrian Owners' Club with the
help of British Eventing Icon, Mary King.
The event, held at Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre on Wednesday
11 th October 2006, was to show how the company has moved forward
into the 21 st Century and to introduce the new Equi-Club. Becoming
a privileged member of this new club will benefit members
in several ways: there will be a loyalty card, a twice yearly newsletter,
a new web-site that has been specially designed for the members
of Equi-Club, personal invitations to equine events and workshops
plus many more advantages.
Mary, who is sponsored by Equest, is based in Devon where she
is married to David who is a farmer and has two children, Emily
and Freddie. Her career spans over 20 years in which time she has
been a regular member of the British Team, winning Badminton twice
(1992 and 2000) and Burghley in 1996 - the first mother ever to
do so, she has also won three European team gold medals and has
most recently represented Great Britain in the World Equestrain
Games at Aachen earning team silver.
Throughout the evening Mary kept the audience captivated by the
quiet, gentle but firm way with her horses that has got her to
where she is today. During the first half, the audience were treated
to Mary demonstrating on King Solomon, probably the horse that
she is best known for, then in the second half it was one of her
own home-bred horses, Kings Gem who took the spotlight, this 7year
old has already been 3 rd at Blair Castle this year, 2 nd at Twesledown
in the spring and this autumn is going to compete in the 7year
old championships at Le Lion d'Angers in France.
Also joining Mary for the evening was 21 year old Emma Sheardown
