An Evening with William Fox-Pitt
Thursday 16 November 2006
Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre, Southwell, Notts.

Leading UK and world number two event rider, William Fox-Pitt, gave a lecture and demonstration at Nottingham Trent University's Brackenhurst Equestrian Centre on Thursday, November 16 2006.

During the evening, William explained that to excel in eventing, a horse and rider must develop a strong partnership and work together through the dressage, show jumping and cross country phases offering expert advice on how to train a horse and ride each phase to the best of your ability. He demonstrated the techniques required using some of his horses from the young horse to advanced level.

William started eventing when he was 15, having ridden from a young age. He was encouraged by his mother, herself a member of the British three day eventing team, and father, who competed at Badminton and Burghley.

Opportunity is one thing - making the most of it is another, and William has demonstrated the toughness and determination necessary to succeed in one of the world's most demanding sports. He is extremely talented and has built up a formidable string of top class horses.

William is married to television racing presenter, Alice Plunkett, and is based in Dorset.
